'All creation is a mine, and every man, a miner. The whole earth and all within it, upon it, and round about it, including himself, in his physical, moral, and intellectual nature, and his susceptibilities, are the infinitely various 'leads' from which, man, from the first, was to dig out his destiny.Man is not the only animal who labors; but he is the only one who improves his workmanship. This improvement, he effects by discoveries and inventions.' -- Abraham Lincoln
Only one president has ever held a patent for an invention. That president? Abraham Lincoln.
Just prior to his presidency, Mr. Lincoln gave a lecture tour around Washington and in his home state entitled 'Discoveries and Inventions'. He was very taken with making things new - both in science as well as in law and in politics. Perhaps it was this spirit of discovery and invention that allowed him to make such a memorable figure in American History. How can we learn from his example? How can we make improvements in our circles through discovery and invention?
Very nice photo. I am managing a group on Linkedin called "New Inventions in Science and Technology." Can I use this light photo as a logo for that group? I would like to have your permission for using this photo.
