A World Wide Audience

I was reading recently that the United States is using documentary film as a diplomatic envoy. Independent filmmakers are traveling the globe at the behest of the United States Government, taking their films with them as they go. A typical choice is Kim Snyder's 'Welcome to Shelbyville', a melting-pot movie about Muslims living amid rural Tennesseans and the way they move past some of their differences. The filmmakers are typically deployed to a single location, in Ms. Snyder's case it was Nigeria, and the film begins there and makes its rounds.

What a wonderful use of independent film! How great to use the freedom of speech we enjoy here in America and share our gifts with a world-wide audience! What ideas do you have for bringing your gift to a wider audience? Not for more money or for more exposure, but so that an important voice can be heard -- yours!
