'An artist is defined by the life they live, not by society's definition of what an artist is. Do not allow anyone to confine you with a stereotype.' The Artists' Tao -- 44 Principles for an Artist's Life by Sean Starr
I have struggled all my life in calling myself an artist because I don't draw very well. I am very creative, a good writer, musician, photographer and desktop publisher. But when I take a drawing or painting class, I cringe. I want to be able to do those things, but I can't. Starr reminds me that I don't have to. I don't need to be limited by what I can't do, but focus on what I am gifted at, and DO THOSE THINGS!
Where are you allowing definitions to stunt your growth as an artist? Where can you break through a stereotype to help you grow as an artist?
