Your Creativity is Limitless

I have been re-reading "A Creative Companion" by SARK recently. If you aren't familiar with her, I highly suggest you go to Amazon.com, Half Price Books, or your favorite independent bookstore and pick up ALL of her books. They will definitely inspire you to greater heights in your creative pursuits.

This passage got me thinking...
"Most creativity is playing • some of the best creative results come from 'mistakes.' Here are some of my 'mistakes':

Cutting: take a scissors and simply cut out the part you don't like.
Rubbing: smear everything together and see what happens.
Ripping: tear the painting into pieces, and use the pieces to make a new one.
Throwing: throw everything away and start over.
Combining: Add painting to your dancing, drawing to your singing."

Lately I have been doing a lot of collaging in my journal...giving myself permission to cut up magazines I might ordinarily have sold back to 1/2 Price Books for a dime and use them as fodder for my journal.

I also have been using Aqua Stics, a wonderful water soluble pastel that is my new medium of choice...allows me to rub and smear and then wash with water. Awesome!

I have been combining more and more drawing, painting and writing...I LOVE the combination of words and images! I love it!

Thanks, SARK for the inspiration!
