While on this trip to Alaska, I learned the name for antiques and historical oddities regarding the 49th state in the union. The term is...ALASKANA. What a great term! I love this state, both for its psyche and its story heritage.
I recently visited the Anchorage Museum, which is absolutely top shelf, and a must visit if you are here in central Alaska. It has a reciprocal membership with many other Science Museums across the country, and if you have supported one of those through membership (as I have), you may even be able to get in for free!
There, I learned about an early Alaskan bush pilot named Joe Crosson, who had a book written about him entitled 'Mercy Pilot, The Joe Crosson Story', by Dick Tordof. But what I am really interested in is that he was featured in a 1941 issue of True Comics (issue #4). I am looking for a copy now, so let me know if you can hook a brother up!
